Does this sound familiar? You want to give your loved one a Valentine’s Day gift, but you aren’t sure what. Before you know it, it’s February 14th, and you still don’t have a gift. You’re stuck giving the same roses and box of chocolates you always do.
So, this year, why not try curating a gift basket for your significant other? It’s not hard to do, but it looks impressive. Plus, it removes the pressure to give one “perfect” gift. Instead, you can curate a selection of all their favorite things.
In this post, we’ll show you how to create a Valentine’s Day gift basket your partner will love. You can also tweak these ideas to create gifts for your kids, siblings, parents, or friends.
Choose a Theme
If you want to choose an assortment of items your loved one likes and put them in a basket, that’s perfectly fine. But if you want to take it up a notch and make it look professional, try theming your gifts. Brainstorm and come up with a theme specific to your partner’s tastes. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
- All things chocolate
- Pink gifts
- Nuts
- Date night
- Red gifts
- Movie night
- Spa items
- Non-edible gifts
Gather Supplies
Next, it’s time to shop for everything you’ll need to create your gift basket. Remember, you don’t have to spend much money on this. Stores like Target or Marshalls have plenty of cute but affordable gifts. Here’s what you want to look for.
A Basket
You’ll need something to put your gifts in. But it doesn’t have to be a basket, even though that’s in the name. You could also use a wood crate, a fabric box, or even a recycled packing box.
Wrapping Supplies
Next, you’ll need wrapping supplies to make your gift look beautiful. They include:
- Tissue paper or paper shreds to fill the bottom of the basket.
- Ribbons to decorate gifts
- Gift tag to write a note on.
Gifts
Finally, you’ll need gifts to fill the basket. You’ll want 1-3 large items and 3-5 smaller gifts. Stumped on what to include? Read to the end of the post for a list of ideas to get you started.
Assemble Your Basket
With everything gathered, you can now assemble your basket. Take your time, and have fun putting it together!
Prep the Basket
Start by preparing the basket. Decorate the outside to match the theme (optional but fun), then fill the bottom with tissue or crinkle paper.
Add Big Gifts
Put your big gifts in first, setting them toward the back of the basket. These are your showstoppers, and you want them to be visible.
Fill in Other Gifts
Now, add all the other little gifts you bought. Tuck them around the bigger gifts with taller items in the back and smaller gifts in the front.
Add Extra Decoration
With everything in the basket, finish it off with a little extra decoration. Wrap small items in ribbons or gift bags. Add a big ribbon on the top or front. Finish by including a card or note telling your partner how much you love them.
Optional: Wrap in Cellophane
Wrap the entire gift basket in cellophane to wow your gift recipient. You can get it on Amazon, and it’s a relatively easy task, as this post shows.
